Fraze Gang’s Epic Hair Band Revival

Fraze Gang – “Juggernaut” mp3

Once in Jr. High this disco kitty sez to me, “you like that hard rock sh!t, huh?” But yes, I did. Fraze Gang is a trio who loves them some 80′s glam – the kind whose tour buses ran exclusively on hair spray and whiskey. This is a fun track of the sort we never thought we’d hear again. But what is old is new, and what is new is old in pop, and here is the ghost of hair bands past in fine form. It’s a kick to hear this kind of epic guitar work and redonkulous rawk singing in 2010. So in best my David Lee Roth I say.. Enjooiiiiyy!!!

What Sons Of Hercules don’t know aint gonna hurt ‘em

The Sons Of Hercules – “Brain Dead” mp3

Rock is not always pretty. Rock often crawls out from a sweaty, dirty place in the unglamorous depths of depravity. The Sons Of Hercules play rock like it’s still dangerous, like there’s going to be hell to pay. This is the polar opposite of today’s inoculated mainstream. This is balls out rock played by five San Antonio, Texas music vets who sound rather like The Stooges jamming with Lynyrd Skynyrd at AC/DC’s house. Play loud with beer.

Loving Thunder’s Thunderous Loving

Loving Thunder – “Photographing the Wild” mp3

Before heavy metal was called “metal” and got all speeded up, it sounded heavy – like great shards of metal colliding and melting together in the sky. Loving Thunder‘s music is like that. This sonically massive title track from their “Photographing the Wild” album is a stunner. Very Seattle in the guitar department. There’s still something in the water there which makes electric guitars sound more beastly and immense. The drums and riffs are more Zep than Nirvana, and the vocal is delivered in a beautifully creepy octave harmony like monks gone to the dark side. A quote on their myspace says simply, “The future, as envisioned by teenage stoners, in the 70′s.” Pretty f00kin accurate.

As MOA Crashs, Burns & Dies, we are entertained like Romans

MOA – “Crash Burn & Die” mp3

With a gr8 voice and a powerhouse band pounding along behind her, MOA can meet a chorus like “Crash, Burn and Die” and wrestle it into submission. Her album, “Do You Want Me, Death?” is everything parents hope their kids do not find out about. Saturated, melodramatic, ridiculous, and completely right.

Music is my passion, and I bask in its sonic glow everyday. There has been so much stupendous music made recently, regardless of the shriveling record industry.

This GR8 music has somehow been ignored and relegated to a second-class status it honestly doesn’t deserve. Being the uber-fan that I am, I found it necessary to blog about this attention-worthy music. Because of my immense passion, I feel like it’s my sole responsibility to take you directly to as much of this music as I can find. I just want to share the fun with fellow music lovers, while helping the music creators.

I have found a free legal MP3 download for each song I post. The artist approves of the free download. These artists hope you like their music enough to buy some. If you don’t, the artist still thanks you for taking the time to listen to their music.

Makes sense, right?

So I’m Superfan.

I give you a link to free legal MP3s, and I get to help spread the word for artists.

If you don’t find any music you love, you’ll get your money back. Guaranteed!

From the time I discovered there was a world of great music seething beyond my brother’s record collection, I have spent the majority of my energy exploring music that is new to me. I grew up listening to hip-hop, electronic and jazz. By the time I was 14 I started bedroom DJing. During high school I started my perpetual mixtape quest. Eventually I amassed enough gear and dirty-used records to turn what should have been a laundry room into a home studio. Two of my songs where deemed worthy enough to be included in Fun Fun Fun Recording’s Mp3 Jackpot Winners Vol. 1“Meditations (by a father)” and “Sick“. It was during that exciting time that I first heard of the MP3 format. I immediately saw how artists like myself would be able to exploit the new technology as a vehicle for delivering music straight to music lovers. Subverse2ten is the latest medium that I use for discovering, filtering and distributing new music to music fans who find themselves always slightly ahead of the curve. I still hold the same enthusiasm and love of new music as I did when I was a kid. I hope you enjoy the music you find here as much as I do.

Helping create and introducing new music is my greatest joy. I founded Beserkley Records, and Fun Fun Fun Recordings to do just that. All the bloggers at Music2ten.com are recording artists @ Funfunfunrecordings.com. I am truly proud of all the music at Fun Fun Fun, and I hope you check out the music, maybe even buy some.

I am also a recording artist @ Fun Fun Fun. That helps me understand the need for exposure sites like this one. Check out my ode to the radio on MP3Jackpot Winners.

Survival Oakland

www.survivaloakland2ten.com In a time and place where virtual hustle has devolved into clicks, plays and arbitrary photos of youngsters portraying something they’re NOT, Survival’s blog serves as ground zero for post-modern metalism. Metalism, that sonic punch that, when it hit, you missed. Then when it hit again, you still missed.

Instead of adding this site to your friend’s list and continuing some miniscule internet existence in a virtually impoverished ghetto of media, just hit up this page to hear some of the heaviest, crunchiest shit that indies, majors, and nobodies are offering in the Bay, the Nation, and Beyond – for Free.

Survival is a speed, thrash, groove, power, sex, pain metal group from the Bay Area started in 2009.

The style grows from the classic bay area speed metal sound, but with more eccentric and enigmatic energy to bruise your receptors.

Visit Survival on myspace or IMEEM for shows, merch, and updates.
